Description Marian Mirilovic 2009-04-16 12:14:36 UTC
NB Dev (20090416)

Check "Tools | Options | Installed | Advanced View checkbox" ... close the dialog and open it again ... checkbox is
unchecked.
Comment 1 Jaroslav Tulach 2009-04-16 18:17:39 UTC
As designed. Moreover confirmed by olangr in issue 162819 that this makes little sence.
Comment 2 Marian Mirilovic 2009-04-28 07:49:02 UTC
As has been discussed on Friday Apr 17, 2009 we need to change Plugin manager in following way:

>> * the "simple/advanced" switch will be persistent for IDE runtime, but
>> "forgotten" after IDE restart (optimized for "Average Joe" user who
>> sees the dialog just a few times per release)
Comment 3 dlipin 2009-04-29 19:02:39 UTC
Could someone confirm the following:

1) user starts IDE with fresh userdir and opens the PM by any means (Tools->Plugins->Installed or Welcome Page-
>Activate Features).
Expected result : the Advanced View is unchecked.
2) User checkes the Advanced View, closes the dialog and open it by any means (Tools->Plugins->Installed or Welcome
Page->Activate Features).
Expected result : the Advanced View is checked
3) User restarts the IDE and opens the PM by any means(Tools->Plugins->Installed or Welcome Page->Activate Features).
Expected result : the Advanced View is unchecked

Right?
Comment 4 Ondrej Langr 2009-05-02 15:16:36 UTC
Right. There are two reasons for this behavior:

1) typical user should not to need the advanced view at all
2) if they ever need it, by the time they come to plugin dialog again, they have long forgotten that had opened an
advanced view.
Comment 5 Ondrej Langr 2009-05-02 15:18:21 UTC
I am aware that this may cause some inconvenience to us as people working on netbeans (who may need to use advanced view
in plugin manager on daily basis), but I'm convinced that for the "Average Joe" user, this is the right behavior.
