The License Changer plugin hosted at the NetBeans plugin page already provides a NetBeans compliant way of batch-adding and/or changing the license header of multiple source files and allows selection and preview of license header templates installed in the IDE. Maybe it would make sense to extend the plugin with the desired functionality so that it might find its way into the IDE at some point in the future. The plugin seems interesting even if it does not cover all file types. I think I will go for it. Any way it is not intuitive that a plugin replace an already existing NetBeans functionality. Plugins usually add missing functionality or enhance the existing one. If the license is set first in the project properties (standard NetBeans way), the plugin will not recognize the setting and ask user to select/browse the license file again. Of course plugin can be improved but it would be much better to integrate the functionality in NetBeans. |
