I'm not sure this issue belongs to project system. It probably spans more modules. Feel free to reassign. Report from Winston: --- I opened a NB 5.5.1 project in NB 6.0. There were a total of 9 dialogs popped up. Resolve missing Data Source (1) Install embedded component library ... (1) build-impl.xml modified externally regenerate .. (5) Resolve Missing resources (2) Some were blocking and popped one after the other (especially "build-impl.xml modified externally regenerate .." dialog) It was a jumble of mess. Shouldn't we have some kind of functionality to consolidate these messages in to a single dialog at project open some kind of informational dialog similar to Error Manager dialog with next, prev buttons etc? --- See the attached screenshot. This problem is somewhat related to inconsistent handling of broken references plus showing unrelated dialogs at the same time (broken reference and build-imp modification warning). I'm not sure about the solution now, but showing up the pop up dialogs when opening a project needs some rules. Solution is TBD.
