could you please also attach the screenshot of the hanging window? how long does it take to show the cancel window ? or it never shown (say, not in a minute or so)?
Created attachment 67434 [details] Screenshot of the installer window
Created attachment 67435 [details] Screenshot of the installer window after cancel was pressed
Sorry for the wrong mime type in the first screenshot attachment. How can I fix it?
I can`t reproduce it... There is no means to change the properties of the attachment.. only to attach again.
Bryan, I`m returning back to this issue... I`ve filed in Sun`s bugster as CR6742558. Could you please provide more info on that? What is the Debian version? Is it 4.0 or some early versions of 5.0 (Lenny)? Do you use GNOME or KDE? Which version? Does installer hang if you execute 'export AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit' before running the installer? Thanks, Dmitry
Bryan, could you please also check whether this hang occurs only when clicking "Cancel" on the first panel or it happens on any other as well? Could you please run installer with strace? strace -tf sh netbeans-trunk-nighly-xxx-linux.sh --javahome /usr/lib/jvm/ia32-java-1.5.0-sun --verbose > strace.log 2>&1 When GUI appears and welcome screen is shown, click Cancel button and after it hangs for some time please go to the shell and press Ctrl-C. The resulting strace.log should big - in my case it is about 30MB - so please zip it (gzip, bzip, whatever:) and send it to me directly (dlipin at netbeans dot org). Thanks in advance, Dmitry
BTW, I`ve tried to reproduce it on Debian Lenny (beta2) with the same kernel, JDK on i386 with GNOME 2.22.3 - no luck.
Just to note: I could not reproduce this issue on Debian Lenny Beta2 (amd64) running inside VMWare Fusion Beta2 with the latest Lenny updates running on the same JDK (ia32-java-1.5.0-sun). uname -a: Linux debian-amd64 2.6.26-1-amd64 #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 12:09:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Bryan, one more question: what desktop theme are you using? Dmitry
I'm using KDE.... I have a vm using Mint. (and Gnome) I'll try it,too. BTW.. on the "real" pc I'm using 64 bit kernel and 64 bit java.
I cannot reproduce this with the latest build (200809020201) on either 64 bit sidux or 32 bit mint. (both Debian) Maybe it was fixed when the jre search changed in the installer... http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=143775
It is said to say that I don`t believe that JDK bug will ever be fixed since JDK5 will start its EOL period in April`2009. So... closing this one as wontfix.
