It would be nice if compiler output included a timestamp to make it clear which run of the compiler produced the output. This can be a help in figuring out whether "Finished Foo" is from the most recent compilation or whether the compiler did anything. May be most helpful for newbies, but requested by users in a recent usability test: http://ui.netbeans.org/usability/Mar_20_02/ (content to be checked in very soon)

I am not sure ant provides any timestamp of the running process. Anyway I think it's useless request.
Probably does not apply to the current Ant integration, which by default reuses old output windows anyway.
