Description Macoute 2004-11-09 13:40:41 UTC
Why you have not release a version of Profiler for
MacOsX platform?
Comment 1 iformanek 2004-11-09 13:50:44 UTC
The reason for that is purely technical - we are building a modified
VM based on 1.4.2, which we can do for Sun's hotspot VM, but cannot do
for Apple's VM as we have no access to the VM sources there.

As we migrate to TIger in next couple months, the profiler will likely
start working on Mac as well. We will update this issue with news when
there is a progress here.

This cannot be done for the 1.0 release of profiler

Apple release Java 1.5 Update 3 Developer Preview 1 yasterday. It based on 5.0 Update 4. So i think the
profiler should work with this preview. You can get it from http://developers.apple.com with a free
developer account.

For what it is worth, they now have a Update 3 DP 3 release that implement 1.5_05. This release, makes
the command line jstack, jps, etc. tools work, which says good things about the coverage of basic JVMTI.

We've added a first, experimental support for Mac in the upcoming Milestone 11.
This one supports Apple's new JDK based on 1.5u5
