The reason for that is purely technical - we are building a modified VM based on 1.4.2, which we can do for Sun's hotspot VM, but cannot do for Apple's VM as we have no access to the VM sources there. As we migrate to TIger in next couple months, the profiler will likely start working on Mac as well. We will update this issue with news when there is a progress here. This cannot be done for the 1.0 release of profiler Apple release Java 1.5 Update 3 Developer Preview 1 yasterday. It based on 5.0 Update 4. So i think the profiler should work with this preview. You can get it from http://developers.apple.com with a free developer account. *** Issue 65220 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** For what it is worth, they now have a Update 3 DP 3 release that implement 1.5_05. This release, makes the command line jstack, jps, etc. tools work, which says good things about the coverage of basic JVMTI.
