Description rbuss 2007-07-18 22:22:00 UTC
In daily nb 6 build from 17.07 and bundled glassfish v2 b55 jbi tree view has no component nodes in the service window. When trying to add a component
with menu item 'Install new Service Engine' (for example) the following error message appears

java.lang.NullPointerException
	at org.netbeans.modules.sun.manager.jbi.nodes.JBIComponentContainerNode.refresh(JBIComponentContainerNode.java:115)
[catch] at org.netbeans.modules.sun.manager.jbi.actions.InstallAction$1$1.run(InstallAction.java:55)

I just tried NB 6 build from 07-23 and bundled GF v2 b56 (using JDK1.5.0_06), and everything seemed to work fine. I do
have some installation issue with JDK 1.6 though (see #110487).

Which jdk version did you choose for GF installation? Did this happen on the default domain with the default ports? If
this is reproducible, could you attach your ${UserDir}/config/J2EE/InstalledServers/.nbattrs file? You can find your
${UserDir} from NetBeans' About dialog.

Also, is this reproducible if you start NetBeans with a brand new $UserDir, say, by removing/renaming the old $UserDir
directory beforehand? This looks like a corrupted configuration problem in your UserDir to me.

I installed daily version of NB 6 (25.07) and GF v2 b56 from scratch with JDK 1.5 06 and everything is working fine too.
I am not really sure about the jdk version I used for installation when the issue occured. Sorry. May be it was 1.6.
For other options I did select the defaults.
I did install the daily NB 6 together with GF v2 b56 (complete bundle with SOA) again from scratch using JDK 1.6 and it is working
fine. I could add the jdbc binding component without a problem.
I agree with you that the reported issue must have been caused by corrupted configuration.

Alert user of possible server config file corruption.
