[ JDK VERSION : 1.6.0_02 ] Maybe, it would be a good idea to add a small button next to the article or blog entry title to pin that item to the start page. Pinned items should always be visible. Personally, I don't always have time to read all these interesting articles, howtos and blog entries when they are made available and it would be great to have an option to somehow pin a particular item so it could be easier to find and read it later.
why not open it in browser and bookmark there?
Yeah, but I thought that it would be better to store this data within IDE, independently from the webbrowser.
well, if you manage to get some votes for this enhancement, it may actually appear in nb7.0:)
Maybe it is only me, but I think that there's nothing wrong in adding more functionality to the welcome page. For example I would like to have an option to add new rss channels so I could read news not only from the java.net etc but also from other sources (for example some local websites or blogs written in my native language). Added channels and links to pinned news could be stored in simple xml file. What is more, this file could not be stored on local machine but on the collaboration server. So everytime I will log in to the server (eg. in my office or at home) I will have this file in sync (and so my channels and read/unread articles).
i agree with you. i'd also like to see more features in the start page. but unless there's significant interest from the community (e.g. issuezilla votes) it'll be difficult to allocate resources to it.
