This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
In NetBeans all windows ("Projects", "Files", "Navigator", "Output" etc) are added as tabs to the special areas. The problem is that the length of the tabs is always fills all the length corresponding area. This makes length of the tab very long in some cases. For example if you have only one "Output" window opened in the bottom area this makes the length of the "Output" window to be extremely long (it is as long as your screen). This makes IDE's UI not very attractive. The whole IDE will look more pretty if the length of the tabs was decreased to the required size (to fit the length of the tab's title) but not to the available size as it is now. Please look at attached screen shots: -- NetBeans.png Eclipse.png -- to see what I mean when I talk about the length of the tabs. Thanks,

This is very similar request like 120075, marking as duplicate. AFAIK layout is designed so that there is visual difference between tabs for views and tabs for documents. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 120075 ***
