Installed SAP BusinessOne plugin on NetBeans 6.1 RC1 and plugin installed fine. I deactivated it with no problem and IDE restarted fine. However, when I activated it and the IDE restarted, it took approximately 30 seconds longer for my IDE to start up. It hung (splash screen displayed) on "loading modules" longer than it normally does. My NetBeans 6.1 RC1 typically takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute 15 seconds to start up, depending upon if I have a project loaded. When I restarted NetBeans after activating SAP BusinessOne plugin, I had no project loaded and NetBeans took approximately 1 minute 45 seconds to load.
Marina, can you please look at this issue? Once you resolve it, the plugin can be published on the Plugin Portal Update Center. Thanks a lot!
Hi pekinsoft, NB team is looking into the issue. We need your help to reproduce it. Would you please clarify the following questions: 1. Which Linux did you use? 2. What jdk did you use? 3. Can you reproduce the bug with NB6.1 FCS release? Thank you very much for your help. Hong
Contacted pekinsoft@netbeans.org regarding the issue and requested specifics of the Linux environment. Since the problem was identified in NB 6.1RC, I've requested to test it on NB 6.1 FCS. Currently this issue doesn't appear on Windows platform. Need to reproduce the issue in order to fix it.
I've tested the plugin on Ubuntu 8.04 Linux. Linux 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux The test was performed using NetBeans IDE 6.1 FCS enterprise edition. The SAP BusinessOne Plugin installed fine and there were no performance degradation related to starting or stopping the IDE.
Sean, we need your help now in order to move forward. Are you still able to reproduce the problem with 6.1 FCS? If you can please answer Hong's two questions above. Also 2-3 thread-dumps generated [1] during the slow IDE startup would be extremely helpful. [1] http://wiki.netbeans.org/GenerateThreadDump Thank you very much for your valuable help. We do appreciate it! -Jirka
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you guys about this performance issue. I am unable to reproduce the slow-down at start up. I've looked over the logs from that day and feel that I may have made a mistake in believing that it was the SAP BusinessOne plug-in that caused the slow-down, as I couldn't find anything in the logs to suggest that this was the problem. In answer to questions asked by Hong Lin, I am running Slackware 12.0 and JDK 1.6.0.05. Again, I apologize for the delay and the possible goof with this issue. I've recompleted the plug-in testing and everything seems to be working fine, so this bug seems to be either "Fixed" or "Invalid". I will change my vote on the Portal verification. Cheers, Sean Carrick PekinSOFT Systems www.pekinsoft.net
Thank you Sean for your update, closing this issue and changing your NoGo verification decision.
