Description Michel Graciano 2008-07-30 21:50:40 UTC
[ BUILD # : 200807291401 ]
[ JDK VERSION : 1.6.0_07 ]

The 'Go To Symbol' should have a simpler shortcut. I suggest Ctrl +
Alt + O instead Ctrl + Alt + Shift + O. Some users already asked
about it too.

Both the current and proposed shortcuts conflict with the keystroke for the letter 'O' with an acute accent (Ó).

Using Netbeans 6.5 Beta on Windows XP with a locale of English (United Kingom) the current shortcut produces both the
"go to symbol" dialog and the Ó character in either the editor or the dialog search field

Ondro, do we have some free shortcut? i know .. stupid question

Not a stupid question at all, just difficult to answer ;).

Confirming that the suggested Ctrl + Alt + O is invalid. What is news for me is that Ctrl + Alt + Shift + O has the same
problem, yet 4 keys shortcut generally are discouraged and should not be used anyway.

We certainly do not have a shortcut with O .. there are still some free shorcuts (Ctrl + Shift + R, Alt + Shift + Y are
some of them).

However, when talking about go to symbol, I can't help myself and have to mention that this dialog should not IMO exist
as a standalone dialog at all and should be integrated with Go To Type so that there would only be one place for
locating things in code. ( a little OT, i know ;) ).
