Description tomwheeler 2008-09-17 18:35:57 UTC
I have found the following in NB 6.5 trunk builds, NB 6.5 beta builds and 6.1 final builds although it probably exists
in earlier versions as well:

1. Right-click a suite and choose "Properties" from the context menu
2. Click the Libraries item on the left
3. Expand some cluster (e.g. "platform9")
4. Right-click any module in the list (e.g. "Dialogs API")
5. choose "Properties" from the context menu

A properties dialog is displayed but completely blank. There is no good reason to show a blank dialog here and so I
consider it a defect. Obviously one fix is to remove PropertiesAction from the nodes shown there, but a much better
solution is to show a properties dialog displaying pertinent information about the selected module such as
code-name-base, display name, short description, long description and versioning information. That would be intuitive
and especially welcome here because it's not obvious to many platform developers what the purpose of several modules are
by simply looking at what it shown (i.e. the Display Name).

I realize that some of these details are shown in the tooltip for those nodes, but being able to find out more details
via a properties dialog would be better still, especially since all the infrastructure seems to be in place for it anyway.

I agree with more useful properties dialog. In order to avoid bureaucratic Late UI Change Procedure :-), changing to
enh., will do it after release.

Any chance this can make it into 6.7? It would be especially handy now since there are now many more options for
associating modules with the suite now.

Sorry, this has been pushed out of my focus by more urgent issues. I'll try to add it as part of issue #152960 (I've
added some more info into tooltips, properties dialog is next logical step), but I cannot promise it'll get into 6.7.

There is no context menu in dev builds.
Comment 5 tomwheeler 2010-07-02 19:48:28 UTC
Indeed, the context menu is no longer present as of 6.8
