Description mark4 2008-10-25 00:45:34 UTC
I have "attempted" to turn off ALL auto features of this ide but it seems there are some automatic features that are not
switchable and there are some that are causing major problems...

The bug I noticed occurred when i typed "blah." and a suggestion box popped up to try to give me a list of elements for
the blah structure. Whenever this happened It would disply "No Suggestions" and would cause my input to LOCK UP inside
netbeans (I could still type things outside NB but no further interaction with the keyboard would have any affect within
the editor).

By disabling this "feature" (read cruft) I was able to prevent this for some time. Hhowever... This lock up has just
occurred again and I believe that this time it is because of the brace/parenthesis matching. I looked for a way to
disable this cruft too and can find no way to do it.

This is both a bug report AND a feature request. Please add a means of disableing ALL "features" where the IDE wants to
do something for me. I want NONE of it. Even if they never crashed and always guessed right I would disable them if i
could.

Very annoying.... other than that I think this is now my preferred source editor in Linux (had to end on a posiative note :)

I have stopped using netbeans. This editor / IDE is not stable enough for me. This is because, every time I open a new
file with it the editor locks up in the same way. The only way to recover from this that I have found is to close the
IDE and open it again.

Someone PLEASE write codewright for Linux!

reassigning to editor

mark4, could you please answer following questions ?
1, please check who holds focus in the IDE - http://blogs.sun.com/jara/entry/which_component_holds_the_focus
2, generate TD http://wiki.netbeans.org/GenerateThreadDump
3, is your IDE version 6.0? You could consider to try a new version 6.1 or upcoming 6.5
4, when you switch off all IDE functions what will remain?

Resolving all issues with milestone "future" as LATER. If you feel strongly that
it should be implemented please reopen and set the target milestone to "next".
