When NetBeans 6.5 is run under Java 6 Update 12 the "Attach Debugger" dialog shows up without any components other than OK and Cancel buttons below the horizontal rule below the "Debugger" drop down. The dialog is sized for these components, but nothing is actually shown. Even if this is a bug in Java 6 Update 12 (which could well be since the issue is not present in Java 6 Update 11), NetBeans should work around this. I just spent the day removing my preferences, disabling modules, and finally doing a complete re-installation of NetBeans before finally guessing that this was a Java 6 Update 12 issue. NetBeans needs to workaround this to save others from wasting their time in this fashion!
The problem was just recently reported and we're working on a fix. It's actually caused by a misuse of isValid() method of UI components in NetBeans. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 158192 ***
This (and 158192) have been marked as target milestone 7.0M2?!? This must be fixed as soon as possible in 6.5, not just 7.0 as this is causing great developer frustration in 6.5.
It is already marked as 65fixes3-candidate, which means will be available for 6.5 in the time of patch 3.
also does the same thing on my 64-bit openSUSE 11.1 box
