When installing netbeans-dev-200903040201 on my Kubuntu 8.10 (last updates this morning), all GUI components in the
installer are light-gray on light-gray: checkboxes are invisible, the progress bar shows text but no bar.

That is the issue of JDK and the desktop theme, see also Issue 152788.
