Description pjulien 2009-03-17 12:45:01 UTC
Trying to uninstall NetBeans 6.5.0 so that I can install NetBeans 6.5.1 under Windows Vista, uninstall fails due to the
fact that the files that store information about the install are stored under <username>\.nbi.

The problem here is that the user who installed netbeans in the first place no longer exists on this machine.

Work around:

1. Remove the netbeans-6.5 and glassfish-v2ur2 directories from program files
2. Install netbeans 6.5 once more
3. Under "program and features", netbeans and glassfish now appear twice
4. Under "program and features", uninstall netbeans 6.5
5. click on the remaining entries for netbeans and glassfish, vista produces an error and allows you to remove the
offending entry from "program and features".

I`d say that it is quite contradictory enhancement. Possible we should store installer data somewhere in the shared
folders e.g. in C:\Program Files\Common Files\NBI in case installation is done via admin (or with admin right, or with
UAC enabled) so that programs can be deleted further by the other "admin" users.
