can we set entire netBeans developement as netBeans IDE's project? which means using exsiting netBeans binary IDE to edit the netBeans sources and compile next version of netBeans binary. Now, we can download netBeans binary and source packages separately. To build a new binary from source we need use Ant/Pearl. Why dont we setup the source package as a project of dowloaded binary, then we can develop netBeans completely inside netBeans?
As a workaround you can do that already, you have Ant integration module, which can build NetBeans using the provided buildscripts. And we are working on a new project system - although it will take yet quite a few months to get at least something. Moving to projects module :-)
Target milestone -> 3.3.1.
no enhancements for 3.3.1, better support then Svata described needs enhancements in projects
As described in http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=619519&listName=nbdiscuss the current work on projects prototype has been stopped. Leaving still open since it is valid RFE.
In progress using new build system.
Passing to Michal.
Shouldn't this issue be converted to "umbrella issue"? I guess, that filing separate ENHANCEMENT issues against all not yet projectized modules and make this issue blocked by them could be good solution.
I want this fixed for 4.2. We are nearly there.

Almost completed; just a couple of modules missing in 5.0.
