NB 6.9 201005060200, JDK6u20, GTK ... see attached screenshot (part of the list with items have gray background and the rest is painted with white background

Probably the same problem as in issue #163277.
How does it look like on JDK 7?

It looks fine on JDK 7.

I didn't try JDK 7, but trust you ... 

BTW: JDK 7 is planned to be long cycle release, so it might be better to find workaround for this

BTW2: went through other Options panels and found all other panels(tree/list) are fine
