[ BUILD # : 9f88e9d9c55d ] [ JDK VERSION : 1.7.3 ] Every first time I open the favorites view after reboot the IDE it is gray and the nodes are not shown. I need to minimize and reopen it again. I have not tested it opening it directly, always i tested it, it was already minimized at the IDE startup.
Could you make a screenshot and attach the messages.log?
Created attachment 117577 [details] Log for when it goes wrong
Created attachment 117578 [details] Log for when it goes well Well, I have to say that it now 'always' as it was at 7.1. Now, at 7.2, it happen most of the time, not always.
Created attachment 117579 [details] Screenshot.
As you can see, I was able to reproduce it if a clean install, without any extra plugin, without importing settings from previous version as well, without opening any project.
I think it is not exactly a P3, maybe a P4? Feel free to adjust it if you need.
Created attachment 117580 [details] Log for when it goes well, but slowly Now that I was trying to reproduce it more consistently, I have seen a third behaviour. It has happened just once, but after some seconds, probably between 5 and 10 seconds, the nodes were shown correctly (before that, the view was as the screenshot attached).

One more thing, could you make a profiler snapshot when the Favorites window is blank? I mean start the IDE, open the view and if it's blank, click on the button (http://wiki.netbeans.org/FitnessViaPartnership) and when the nodes appear, stop the profiler and attach the snapshot. There may be some work in the background (maybe occupied hard drive)

I will do this as soon as I can reboot the IDE.
Created attachment 117583 [details] Gray window This sampler is when the Favorites is gray. I waited a couple of seconds but the view wasn't updated.
Created attachment 117584 [details] Sampler 2 In this sampler, I opened and it was gray, so I waited more than 10 seconds, nothing happend. So I minimized the view and reopened it, and it was populated.
The steps to reproduce to be really clear: 1. Open the IDE (with the Favorites view already minimized); 2. Hit Ctrl + 3; The view is opened like the screenshot most of the time, it is like 9 times in 10 for 7.2. At 7.1 it is 100% reproducible for me.
i am sorry, i cannot reproduce. I tried many times, always the view got populated after a second or two - i guess when the disk responded and all nodes in Favorites (just one in my case) was loaded.

It is not exactly a annoying issue, but it is worth to track it and when possible fix it. I will try to investigate it more and maybe create a patch. Lets see what I can do. Just to be clear, I can reproduce it at my both workstation, Windows 7 and Linux Mint 12.
