braces outline only works when selecting a brace, but not from within braces The new feature brace-outline (#45884, #30234) on the left side of the editor (see http://www.pellissier.co.za/hermien/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/brackets-dev.png) is only activated when the caret is at the begin- or end-brace. But it should also work when the caret is WITHIN the braces. Working examples a) if (true) {[caret] //nop //nop2 } b) if (true) { //nop //nop2 }[caret] Non working examples - which are expected to work, but they didn't c) if (true) { //nop [caret] //nop2 } d) if (true) { //nop //nop2 [caret] } NB73DEV 201209110001
It really depends, possibly even on a personal preference. Now it works 'as desinged' - I decided not to show the brace all the time, since it adds a little unnecessary clutter to the UI. I choose to activate the brace outline on a user gesture, and navigating to start or end brace of the block the user wants to inspect seemed quite natural. Possibly a 'outline brace' action + shortcut could be created. CC:ing Petr Somol for UI evaluation.
I'll try to add an explicit action to display the outline.
