Please try following steps in either JSP, PHP or XHTML file: - open the file in editor - paste <mytag></mytag> - enable HTML error checking by clicking on bulb icon next to line 1 - <mytag> is marked as error, click on the bulb icon next to this line - select "Add element "mytag" to the project's custom elements" => element should no longer be marked as erroneous, code completion should offer this element. You should be able to declare custom attributes the same way Actual result: NetBeans correctly adds the element to [project]/nbproject/customs.js but editor does not take this file into account. Try the same with HTML file, you'll see it works fine there.
