I really love the feature, but it's missing the last step: Being able to choose what colors you want for each project. 

I have some project groups which contain 2 projects of the same code base: Test and Production. These are old projects with no VCS so I've just created remote PHP projects in netbeans, and when I need to push features live, I use the diff feature in netbeans, file by file. 
The colored tabs really helps for this, but then it backtracks on itself, by switching colors on restarts of netbeans.

It would really help if I could choose the color I'd like under the project settings.
