This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
To reproduce: * do New -> "Empty File..." * give it a name like "test.txt" & click "Finish" * at this point, the Hex Editor is opened. Moreover, it's opened twice. Also note: closing the hex editors, then normally opening the file & attempting to save modifications, won't work due to bug 250327 It's also not possible to open the file by double-clicking or pressing enter (most likely the same issue as 245282). In conclusion: the hex editor should (almost) never be the default when opening files in NetBeans. PS: not sure if this is the correct component, but since bug 250327 was moved to this component as well, I filed it here Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201502200001) Java: 1.8.0_31; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 25.31-b07 Runtime: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.8.0_31-b13 System: Windows 7 version 6.1 running on amd64; Cp1252; en_US (nb)
