Note the pull-down in the upper-right showing files from the project marked as <no project>

- open a project
- double-click on a file (opening it in an editor pane)
- pull down the file list in that pane
- note that the file is listed as <no project>, not the project from which it was opened.

Clearly, this doesn't always happen, but it happens frequently. And I think this is a hard problem to solve when two projects are open, but there could be files that belong to both projects. I don't know how the association works, or more importantly how files that belong to a project are associated with <no project>
