Product Version = NetBeans IDE 8.2 (Build 201609300101)
Operating System = Windows 8.1 version 6.3 running on amd64
Java; VM; Vendor = 9
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 9+181

Reproducibility: Happens every time

STEPS:
  Install netbeans for JEE
  Click on menu, File / create new project & wait for several minutes

ACTUAL:
  nothing happens

EXPECTED:
  some sort of dialogue box, or a progress bar or the screen changing or something, anything.

NetBeans 8.2 does not work with JDK 9. Please use JDK 8 instead and read here for more information: https://jaxenter.com/netbeans/using-apache-netbeans-incubating-jdk-9
