Description vertgalant 2017-12-10 21:56:50 UTC
I just installed the latest NetBeans 8.2 on the most current OS High Sierra 10.13.2 with the most current Java as well and am not new to NetBeans and Java having used them in the past with earlier versions that worked well.

Everything is fine until I launch NetBeans and open a project, I cannot bring up the Project or the Editor windows for a current project or file. Nor does the file hierarch window appear. When I specifically open a file, the editor pops up for a flash, and then is gone. Using the menu for windows and selecting these windows does not do anything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled NetBeans 3 times now and the problem remains the same.

I am sure I am missing something here, but know not what it is. Please help, thank you.

I dowloaded and launched the IDE Eclipse and it works smoothly with my current configuration. I again uninstalled, downloaded anew, and installed a fresh version of NetBeans and the Project opens, but nothing appears. I open the java file in the src folder for the project and it appears for a millisecond and disappears nowhere to be found. None of the relevant Window menu commands do anything. I now know with reasonable certainty that the problem is with NetBeans. All my parameters are given in the original post.

OK so found out that the current version of NetBeans is not compatible with the latest JDK 9, simple as that, os had to uninstall it and download JDK 8, all problems are resolved. Why no-one thought to let me know right away is, needless to say, reflects poorly on this "community".
