This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
When I open a read-only file from a CVS filesystem and try to edit it, NetBeans offer to "run the Edit command to make the file writable", what's Ok. But in some cases, when I try to save this file later, it crashes with a lock issue and can't save the file (my workaround is to select all, copy, close with dismiss, reopen, select all, paste and save -- it works now). If I run the Edit before opening a file, it never crashes.

Well, I don't thing this is a fault of VCS modules. There is probably kept an invalid lock in the editor support (?) Moving to openide/text for analysis.
This is known issue which we would like to fix. itamar, how often that happens? Could we sent you binary patch which you would install and try to reproduce the problem? We would add some logging into the patch without which we are not able to resolve this problem. Unfortunately, Radek and me we are both out of office next week so we will get back to you on September.
The frequency is really variable, some days it happens only one or two times, others, all the time. I can't see a pattern in this bug's "behavior". Today I saw that message for 5 or 6 times until now. I'm ready to install any patch you send me, there is no problem. I don't know if it's related, but the filesystem where are the files is mounted by NFS. But I have no other problems with my NFS, it's pretty stable.

Great. Radek will prepare binary patch.
OK. I'm ready to create binary patch, but then I need to know, which release do you use or build number for dev build.
From "about": I use product version 3.5 (Build 200306022350), IDE Versioning IDE/1 spec=3.42.1 impl=200306022350. My JVM is 1.4.2 on Debian Linux (sid). (offtopic: why I'm "None" and you have a name? In "Edit Profile" I can't find where to put my name...)
