Description bd 2004-09-24 06:25:26 UTC
It is STILL not possible to open more multiple
editor windows. This is a serious problem that
cropped up in 3.6 and apparently it has not yet
been fixed. Multiple editor windows are essential
users with multiple screens as well as in many
other situations.

Regards

Yes, in current state it's as designed, multi editor feature is
planned in future, but not for 4.0.

Meanwhile, could you describe "many other situations" in which
multiple editors are needed? Only real world use case I know today is
multi monitor set up, which are these other situations?

Still valid.

Another situation this will be useful:
You are editing a new file, and you need to copy lots of content from another
file. Having both windows open is extremely useful in this case. Maybe there
is a way to get around this?

you can split the editor and see 2 files at once. Just drag one of them to the
side. it doens't solve the multimonito problem though.

Implemented in main trunk, views and editors now can be dragged and dropped
outside of main window on second monitor.
