Getting a value as a property from the event source may not work in a multithreaded environment: When the target asks for a property value, it might have changed already. Instead the current value can be packed in the event, from which it should be accessible via the connection wizard. This request is related to the old issue 26390 and to the message 739910 from the nbusers list.
This theoretically makes sense but I think this enhancement would be used rarely. I don't see a reasonable use case for this e.g. in Swing. And though this is quite minor thing, it would not be easy to implement. We might get to it if we decided to rewrite/improve the Connection Wizard one day; otherwise I doubt we'll have time to extend the current one.
