Description Vince Kraemer 2005-01-04 20:35:51 UTC
Context:

Project explorer. Web Pages node of a web
application selected.

I create a sun resource 'object'. A new node
appears in the logical view. There is a file in it.

Most other templates create an object "under" the
selected node. Those that don't (like servlet)
tend to say where the file is going be created.

Lower priority.
Comment 2 Jiri Kopsa 2005-03-18 19:44:04 UTC
Currently there are some empty containers by default, some pop up when a child
is added.

Optimally all the containers (folders) should be present from the day one. Or
not? Jano?

There are really a couple issues here:

1. the lack of info about where the file that gets created will appear in the tree.
2. the appearance of the new logical view node.

fixing one would make two less "surprising".

This is very true for situations where the new node is not visible in the
projects window at the moment...

I completely agree with you Vince!

I'll definetely restart the discussion about the contextuality of the "New"
context menu (still believe that e.g. if the user right clicks the Enterprise
Bean node, he wants to create a Bean not a Web Service).

But in the current time frame, we'll solve #2 (by showing all the folders by
default) and believe that #1 is solved by the names link (i.e. new Web Service
naturally appears in Web Service folder, etc.).

I'm currently working on this issue. When done, I'll agregate this one with
several others.

Thanks Vince (and others) for your thoughts.

This issue is now solved as part of #56662 and #55052.

Marking this one as duplicate.
