Expanded nodes in File View, Project View, Favorite View... are after restarting
IDE packed.

This feature is disabled by default, because of performance problems on startup.
 Especially scaling isn't as good as it could be.
If you would have a lot off opened projects and you expand a lot folders, your
startup will take ages after restart of IDE ...

Note that you can use

-J-Dnetbeans.keep.expansion

command line option to turn the expansion restoration after start on.
