I tried to find some notes how I can actually install a collaboration server to
make netbeans talking with it, but could not find them. 

Our company has a very strict firewall and even the proxy does not allow to
connect to the 5222 port, so i was looking for some instruction to set up a
collab server myself. I tried jive messanger server, but was not very successful
yet.

Maybe you could put some information onto the web in the collab section, how
this can be achieved, or which server to use :)

Reassigning to issues@collab. Collab Support plugin is not actively maintained.

Obsoleted in 6.7 by the newly introduced integration with Project Kenai, a
collaborative environment for developers to host their open-source projects,
which includes also a chat service.
