It would be good if nodes state (open/closed) be persisted between netbeans sessions. 

At least for Projects view for the first time it would be super.

It is a trade-off between performance and nice-to-have feature. Cf. #55701. Also
there is a property that can turn this on - add -J-Dnetbeans.keep.expansion=true
to IDE params.
