On Linux? Which window manager?
Comment 3 dmladek 2000-10-30 12:56:59 UTC
I'm using:
X11; WinManager KDE1; Linux 2.2.12-20smp i686;
Theme Default
RedHat6.1
2 CPUs
===============================================

The problem arrais probably only on my Linux:-(
I tested it on W2K and other Linux with KDE1, Theme Default (RH6.2)and it was
OK.

this problem I'm watching for a longer time...
But there were earlier builds were the icons have been visible...

Please be more specific - if you say in buildXY it worked and in buildXY+1 it
didn't we can fix it. Is it happenning in all freshly installed builds?
In which build it worked ok for the last time? Thanks.
Comment 5 dmladek 2000-10-31 12:26:59 UTC
OK. I tried to find it. All I done was I unpack CLEAR builds and executed them.

Here's the result:
=======================
1024CE OK
1049CE ?? I missed icons of:
			Explorer, Editor, Wizards,
			Customizer, Generate JAvaDoc,...
		    Others windows are OK(Debug., Browser,
			OutputWin, AutoCommnet)
1099CE OK
1111CE OK
*1118CE.project	!! all icons miss !!!:( But I have imported project from
			earlier builds
1118CE OK
1134CE OK
1134CE.project	!! import project from 1118CE > all icons miss
---------------------------------------------------------------

Heya, that is because in some build I see all icons and in some not.
That is because sometime I import project and sometimes not.

And How do I import project?
I've started to import project from a time it was implemented by Martin.Ryzl.
I'm ususaly import project from previous build in which was imported project
from previous one etc. So in my 1118CE.project builds is imported project fdrom
previous one build, but in fact this project is from build I've started to use
this import.
I guest it is from 1099 at least 'cause my older FS is mounted from this one.
Comment 6 David Simonek 2000-11-06 08:43:59 UTC
This problem occurs *only* when you take serialized workspaces (part of
projects) and delete asociated developer.jar library in the same build. This is
exactly what happens if you import projects from older build and delete previous
build.
Comment 7 dmladek 2000-11-06 11:25:59 UTC
hmmm....So, if we now know where the problem comes from,
it'll be right to fix it, won't be?

IMHO:typical user if make UPGRADE:
they wants to save their date and settings
and throw away older version.

Thanx for commets and fixs

P.S.
---------------------------
I tried to reproduce (very briefly->borrowed machine) on W2K
and here it seems there isn't such type of problem with icons.
My conditions were:
===========================
I imported project from [1137IE]->[1140IE]
This project wasn't wery specialized (even no opened windows:Editor, etc.
just mounted GVCS FS)
close this running build and rename the older one to another name.
Start again the current one(1140) and icons were OK.

if you wish I test it deeply on W2K or such M$platform, tell me:)
Comment 8 Jesse Glick 2000-11-06 16:21:59 UTC
Probably a duplicate of the request to use nbres*: protocols for mode icons in
DefaultCreator...?
Comment 9 David Simonek 2000-11-06 16:32:59 UTC
Yes, I think it is. Dan, please try this: Install older build to some
"my_path_1", newer to "my_path_2". Save config in older build, import it
to the newer. So far, so good (it should be). Close new build, delete old build
, start new build and it should be broken now. If so, it is duplicate of what
Jesse said (but I cannot find original in bugzilla, so it's fine to leave this
bug open)
Comment 10 dmladek 2000-11-06 18:03:59 UTC
Tested on Linux & WinNT
used builds: 1111CE & 1140CE
-----------------------------

Result: Positive
ProjectStatus: Broken (forgotten settings, eg.Brakpoints, watches, etc.)
Comment 11 dmladek 2000-11-10 19:50:59 UTC
I'd like to say same more info.

This bug or new one should belong to Project module.
Why? Because all those troubles like losted icons are related to import project.

So, what all I do and What all I missed after import:
======================================================
1. Unpack older build eg. 1100CE. and start the IDE
2. Change as many settings(from Project) as it's possible:
	def.compiler,executor,debugger
special settings on a few files
	mount various FS(cvs,jar, multi..)
	Some Editor settings(it's beahviour, intendention,...)
	Set few brakpoints and watches
	location of windows
	renaming workspaces, java sources, etc.
	...,etc.
3.close IDE
--------------------------
4. unpack latest build & start IDE
5. Import project from the previous build
6. check some settings....
Here I found that Debugger watches, breakpoints are lost
7.close IDE
8.del previous build 1100CE
9.start the IDE
10. Check settings...
I found the problem with icons described in this bug earlier
the rest are saved and OK.
------------------------------------------

With the debugger the beakpoints&watches are sometimes saved and lost only after
you delete the old build.

Also there were problem with remounting jarFS and TimerBean , butit's fixed now.

Comment 13 David Simonek 2001-01-03 14:58:59 UTC
3.1.2000 [dafe]
The problem with missing icons after project import (or more generally when core
jar archive changes its location) should be fixed.
For Dan Mladek: Possible other errors connected to project import should be
filed separately to proper module.
